That's a good question.
I've gotten it a few times now: Why aren't Ironman races listed on your Race Calendar?
Up to now, my response has been this: I'm more interested in growing the sport at the local levels. That is the purpose of this site after all. I list races in the area, including USAT-sanctioned races within a stone's throw of the area (similar to my recently posting Boston Qualifiers, but only within a stone's throw within the metro area). It's these races, I feel, that deserve (and often, need) the added exposure.
Yes, triathlon is a growing sport in America (as is running). But not at the pace that Ironman is/has been. Ironman doesn't need my help (or anyone's help, for that matter -- when's the last time YOU'VE seen a USAT tattoo on someone's ankle?).
It's been all-to-often I see a solid local event go by the wayside because registration is low -- and NOT because of lack of interest. Usually it's just lack of exposure (again, hence this site). Sometimes, it's even the LARGER races (like Ironman) that suck up registrations from the local organizers.
Do I hate Ironman? Absolutely not. Do I still support Ironman? Absolutely, yes. Will I ever feature Ironman on my website? Likely (in fact, 'yes' -- Ironman Boulder is currently on the Calendar), but not at the level any hardcore-Ironman-triathlete would be satisfied with.
Ironman is great. They just don't need any help.
