Some news around the area this week...

• No Cedar Creek Triathlon for 2017   Race organization sent out the announcement via Facebook last week that the Cedar Creek Triathlon & Duathlon - usually slated for the third week of August - will not be taking place for 2017. Though plans had tentatively been set for August 26th, organizers cited issues with permitting for this year's cancellation. From the organization: "This year our event has been cancelled. Our committee decided that we had a great run and created something to give back to local charities in our community. We decided greater things are to yet to come and greater things are still to be done. There were permitting issues that we could not overcome. It takes a lot to put on event like ours. We hope you had fun."  Though the announcement gives a positive outlook on future plans, given the fact that permitting often gets tighter with time, and not the other way around, it is unlikely the event will return for 2018 and beyond. • All Area USAT-sanctioned races now listed.  AND, we're hoping to do the same for area Boston Qualifiers. So, this week, you'll see a lot of new registrations posted -- those are the USAT's. For BQ's, those are coming soon. On the Race Calendar page, I've also started denoting those BQ's and USAT-sanctioned races (that I know of, at least).
